Teenage Unplanned Pregnancy: Crisis Intervention |
Teenage pregnancy has long been one of the most pressing social issues. It can produce acute stress disorders or crisis episodes. Therefore, it is critically essential for the helping professionals to provide early responses for the young people with all forms of crisis intervention. Prompt and structured crisis intervention can minimize fear and uncertainty. It also leads to early crisis resolution, cognitive mastery, and even personal growth. In this workshop, we will briefly discuss the basic principles of crisis theory, the myths and its implications in helping young people with unplanned pregnancy. A case example will be used to demonstrate how to apply each of the stages of the crisis intervention model.
